Welcome

A  warm welcome to St Luke’s School.  We are a very well established, thriving, popular primary school with children aged 3 to 11 years situated in the heart of EC1.  As we are just one form entry we know every child very well and they are valued, nurtured, well cared for and educated to a very high standard.  Our Christian values of wisdom, compassion, perseverance and thankfulness permeate the life of the school impacting on children's spiritual and academic development.

We have a passion for learning which is driven by high quality teaching, a broad, balanced and bespoke curriculum which children enjoy. We teach philosophy and have specialist music, sports, dance and drama teachers.  We use Islington,  London and the world itself as a resource drawing inspiration from all countries, cultures and religions.

We have an organised ‘Learning for Life’ programme which is based on enquiry so children naturally explore and routinely question as we cultivate creativity, independence and individuality. Life is not always easy and we support children to navigate their way so when they get to secondary school they are ready. We go beyond that by sowing seeds of inspiration and aspiration as children regularly hear how people of different professions got to where they are today- from lawyers to doctors, artists to architects, chefs to brick layers. Over the years, hundreds of professionals from all walks of life have been interviewed by year 6 and inspired the children, opening the doors of possibility to them. Past pupils come back with success stories and their children now attend the school as life goes on.

We encourage all members of our community to live and work by the school's Christian vision, ' Love God. Love your neighbour as yourself: be the Good Samaritan,' the origin of which lies in the Gospel of St Luke. We strive to love our neighbour,  to serve our local community and promote an understanding and respect of the diverse community that we serve. We hope that this is evident in the quality of relationships enjoyed by the school community.  Our fantastic staff team naturally, consistently  and willingly go the extra mile for the children. The St Luke's Way is to be  'Ready, Respectful, Safe and Loving' led by our love of God. We endeavour to educate each child so they are knowledgeable, broadening their horizons so they are confident, so they believe in themselves, so they feel they can achieve anything with determination, hard work and perseverance. I can honestly say that St Luke's is a consistently happy school in which to work and learn.

Our school is in a federation with Moreland Primary School which is 5 minutes up City Road. A federation is a partnership between schools with one governing body.  The core purpose of the federation is to provide two consistently fantastic, successful, happy schools for our community which we do year after year. It is the high-quality teaching and learning, consistency in practice, high expectations for every child and of every child which drives us. We do what we do because the children and their education matter more than anything.

Our results year on year show that  the education we provide is of a high quality and we very much value our partnerships with parents, carers and families. We work together to join up children's world of home and school so they can thrive. The children tell us they love their school which make all that we do very worthwhile. You are most welcome to visit and see our school for yourself.
