Week 4:
Our Naturehood Tutor came back to visit us!
She told us that we were going take part in the RSPB’s ( Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) Big School Bird Count and find out which birds visit our school grounds. She showed us all the birds we mights see and how to use binoculars. We tried to sit very, very quietly so we could see which birds we could hear. Then we walked round the playground & used the binoculars to look for birds. We saw magpies, pigeons, seagulls & great tits.
Week 3:
The children have thoroughly enjoyed their maths lessons this week. They have been learning the value of numerals from 0-10. They have been exploring numicon pieces and worked as a team to match the pieces to their corresponding number. After this, they worked independently to cut out numicon pieces and stuck them next to the correct numerals.
Earlier in the week, the children received a letter in the post from Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother. She asked the children to make her a new wand to replace the one she’d lost.
Week 2:
Our focus book this week is Cinderella and the children have been so creative! They’ve decorated their own royal crowns and used junk modelling materials to make a castle which they then painted. They even made their own royal banquet which consisted of jam and cheese sandwiches.
Week 1:
This week the children experimented with ice. They painted the ice cubes with water colours and used small, wooden hammers to smash the ice into pieces. The children noticed the water forming around the blocks of ice, they learnt that the ice was melting and turning into water and enjoyed the feel of it in their hands.
They also had a very relaxing time drawing and marking making on a large piece of paper on the floor.
