We have had the privilege of visiting The London Buddhist Centre this term. At the London Buddhist centre we met our lovely mentor who spoke to us about Buddhism. We had the opportunity to learn how to meditate and did so for 35 minutes! The session was absolutely amazing and the children had a great time. We revisited Siddhartha’s journey to full enlightenment and how he explored the world and left his family behind.
This summer term in year 3 we have put out full focus on the Stone Age! For English we have been exploring ‘UG: the boy genius of the Stone Age’ the children are learning more about speech marks and focusing on reading with character. The children have really enjoyed creating their own sentences using speech marks.
For RE we are looking at Judaism - the children have explored the importance of the Torah for the Jewish community and who makes up the Jewish faith. We spent some time re-enacting the first confrontation between God and Abraham. The children spent time exploring and portraying the emotions of Abraham when God asked him to sacrifice his only beloved son.
