Vacancies and Volunteering

Volunteers

We count ourselves lucky to have so many volunteers giving up their time to support children’s learning and foster high aspirations.  Alongside members of our Governing Body, parents, trainee teachers and students on work placement, we have many committed volunteers from businesses based in our area.

As many as forty volunteers every year come in once a week as lunchtime ‘reading partners’, giving children the invaluable one-to-one attention that has a real impact on their understanding and love of reading. Many of our reading volunteers come from nearby City law firm Slaughter and May, who host an annual visit to their Bunhill Row headquarters for children with reading partners.

Volunteers also help with lunchtime sports and enrichment activities, from football coaching with eSynergy Recruitment to maths games with Number Partners from HoganLovells, another City law firm.  HoganLovells volunteers also run the inter-school Debate-It competition, coaching our school team in preparation for the annual final.  City University student volunteers come in to share their learning on topics from fair trade to environmental sustainability, as well as showcasing their home cultures on Cultural Awareness Day.
