Autumn Term 2 2023

Autumn 2, week 1:

Welcome back everyone from half term!

This week we have started our second book, ‘The Gruffalo’.

We practised ‘look and listen’, to explore each character we have met so far.

Autumn 2,week 2:

This week, we continued working on exploring the autumn season and grouped leaves into hoops.

The children were engaged during this activity and loved hearing everyone's ideas on where the leaves should be grouped.

We also painted and crafted poppies for remembrance Sunday where children painted the flowers red and gave them to each class in the school.

Autumn 2,week 3:

This week was a busy and fulfilling week for the nursery.

At the start of the week, children finished their 2nd book 'The Gruffalo' by creating the food they saw using playdough and cooking tools.

We also spoke about what the Gruffalo might do and decided he would run a cafe which inspired them to make their own Gruffalo menus.

Towards the end of the week, we had fun using our new sandbox. The children used different types of tools and loved the feeling of the crumbling sand.

Autumn 2, week 4;

This week, we explored our third book ‘We are Going on a Bear Hunt’.

Nursery watched Michael Rosen’s video and performed along side him and explored the different settings the family experience on their journey by making their own artistic collages using different types of materials and tools.

They also built their own ‘Bear Caves’ using the wooden blocks in our construction area.

Autumn 2, week 5:

This week the countdown to Christmas has officially begun!

We had an amazing open morning, where children and parents did Christmas crafts like making a Christmas card.

Thank you to all the parents that attended!

We also had two little visitors who joined our classroom who have already started to create mischief. We decided to create a little house for them to live in while they stay with us for the countdown to Christmas.

Autumn 2, week 6:

We watched an amazing performance this week called ‘The Littlest Christmas Elf’. The children enjoyed every part of it and loved meeting the elf.

We also worked on our Christmas crafts for the Christmas Fete which were candy canes that the children designed using pipe cleaners and different coloured beads.

Autumn 2, week 7;

This week we had a very special Christmas dinner and Christmas jumper day!

The children loved seeing all the different jumpers around the school and loved their Christmas dinner.

They also were amazing during our Christmas shows and were very brave for performing to the whole school and to their parents. I am very proud of every single one of them.

Autumn 2: week 8

This week we wrote our Wishlist to Santa by exploring different toys.

Some children wrote what toys they wanted from Santa, while others drew it out.

Have a lovely Christmas!
